Please read this page before or while looking at our available art downloads. a new approach to downloadable content There are many downloadable creations in our lives these days, such as music, movies, photography, books, software and so on. The solutions proposed here relate to art and many other kinds of downloadable creations and content. fresh art Do you ever get tired of looking at the same art? Downloadable art offers the possibility of fresh art, so we can change art when we want to change it. please note The word "I" below refers to me, the founder of artdown.com and the creator of ProxThink.com (upon which much of this is based). Several challenges face download creators and users. I'm proposing some solutions here, for art as well as other downloadable creations. challenges facing creators Challenges for creators of files which can be downloaded and copied often involve getting rewarded for their work. These creators include artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, photographers, software authors, inventors and many other innovators. challenges facing users Challenges for users and fans of downloadable creations include 1) finding creators and 2) having flexible options for rewarding creators. To meet these challenges, I'm proposing the use of Proxri Deals such as the one we use, inspired by the ProxThink Growth Model, and some standards for creators as well as fans and users of downloadable creations. why these solutions The ProxThink Growth Model, which provides a conceptual basis for Proxri Deals, has the potential to be sustainable, flexible, healthy, fun and efficient for people in the proximity of situations in which it is used. In turn, these qualities can help us grow, change, survive and thrive. Some standards for downloadable creations, such as those suggested below, can help us grow richer and more varied relationships between users and creators. proxri deal A Proxri Deal, such as the Proxri Deal for this artdown website, provides a framework for rewarding creators with ProxRewards (or proxri for short). A proxri is a kind of reward which relates elements in the proximity. A ProxReward can be money and/or other elements. The recommended standard for creators of downloadable creations is to include certain information in their files, such as ways to contact and proxri the creator. In keeping with the ProxThink Growth Model, use of the RelatePoint symbol (r] followed by your website, such as "(r] example.com" to indicate where you can be contacted and proxried, is recommended at a minimum. It is also recommended that you include in computer files a Proxri Deal, a short version of it, or ways to find it (such as a RelatePoint mark and location or a URL link). As examples of how to include creator information, in images (art, photos, many illustrations, etc.), creators can include contact and proxri information in the IPTC data in the file, and visible text and digital watermarks can also be used. The recommended standard for users and fans of downloadable creations is to check files and content for the creator information, and then use it to proxri according to Proxri Deals. Especially look for the RelatePoint symbol (r] followed by the creator website. For instance, look for "(r] example.com" to indicate where you can contact and proxri the creator. Some files may also have creator information you can read with software. For example, you can read IPTC data in image files with image editing software. spreading a standard As Kevin Kelly writes, "for a standard to be effective, its adoption must be voluntary."
